Since October 2024, FHI Malaysia in collaboration with a 5-Star Hotel in Kota Kinabalu commenced a food donation program whereby daily surplus food that would otherwise be disposed and ending going to landfills, is recovered by FHI Malaysia and redistributed to those in need.
With the support of FHIM Board of Directors, Donors and Volunteers, FHIM is able to adhere to food safety and hygiene standards through a jointly proper handling, storage, collection and delivery procedure with our hotel partner.
As a result of this food charity program, we are able to feed a quality nutritious meal for up to twenty needy people each day everyday from welfare homes such as mentally challenged, elderly, B40 children to the urban slums across Kota Kinabalu. By donating surplus food, hotels can reduce food waste, help those in need, and contribute to a more sustainable food system.
Bringing cheer to the hungry
We hope to scale up this program in terms of hotel partners and targeted outreach. Your contributions whether in human or financial resource will help us achieve this.
